What we dislike about the school
- Older students should consider that the average age of students at the school is significantly younger than at most other schools.
Location: The Junior Camp for LSI in Cambridge is housed in Abbey College, a 30-minute walk from the centre of the city. It is right in the hub of the University Campus, surrounded by university buildings and gardens. Cambridge Central Train Station is 15 minutes by foot from the school, and there are plenty of bus stops located around the building for intercity travel. Accommodation, classrooms and the dining hall are all located at Abbey College.
Tuition: Lessons take place in a building close to the accommodation. The lessons are divided by ages with 9 to 11 year olds in the same class, and 12 to 17 year olds in another group. Students will have 20 lessons of tuition per week, and it is possible to just book tuition without accommodation or the activity programme.
Activities: In the afternoon the school provides an activity programme which could include bowling, punting on the river, a historical walking tour, Cambridge safari trail or a trip to a local museum. In the evenings there are supervised activities.
Accommodation: Students have the option to stay with a local English family or stay at the residence. Homestays are all in Cambridge, and students will have breakfast and dinner with their assigned family, and have a packed lunch to bring to school. The residence is opposite Abbey college, and has a self service full board canteen, weekly linen change, on site laundry service and 24-hour security.
