Location: The Manchester Kaplan International Languages school is located in the heart of the city, close to all the action. It is one street away from Piccadilly Gardens. There are a selection of international restaurants, bars and cafes lining the streets around the school.
Public transport: The centre of Manchester is walkable in under 10 minutes. There is a tram system that runs throughout the city. The nearest stop to the school is Piccadilly Gardens, which can be reached in under five minutes by foot. For out of city travelling, the Manchester Piccadilly Train Station is less than 10 minutes away from the school. Trains from here run to London and Birmingham, along with other southern cities.
Local attractions: The attractions in the centre of the city are walkable from the school or accessible by tram. The Whitworth and Manchester Museum are to the south of the city, and reachable in around 10 minutes by bus. The Imperial War Museum and The Old Trafford Football Stadium are 30 minutes away from the school when using public transportation.
Course structure: General English classes, IELTS exam preparation courses, Academic semester programmes, and a business supplementary package are all possible at Kaplan International Languages.
School facilities: There is a student lounge, study centre, computer lab and wifi throughout the school.
Mentor programme: For students staying for a long duration, it is possible to become a mentor at the school. Not only does this allow students to help and support their peers, but it helps them to practise their English skills and develop skills in areas such as leadership.

Visa Documents
Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 20. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.

If you want to get serious about learning English but also want to preserve some of your free time for enjoying everything Manchester has to offer, then the General English course from Kaplan could be for you. You’ll develop your language skills for academic, professional and everyday life contexts, which is done by giving equal attention to improving all four of the main areas of language study: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
Kaplan asks participants to take part in a placement test before starting, to determine which level group you would benefit most from. Every 5 weeks you will take another test, to measure your improvement, and continue to ensure that you’re in the most appropriate group for your needs.
Class sizes are a maximum of 15 students, which lets the tutor get to know everyone’s needs more easily than in a larger class setting, and you as the student will also feel more comfortable when asking your teacher for any help you might need.
