Location: Britannia English Academy Manchester is located in the artistic and historic city of Manchester, England. Home to the industrial revolution and some of the world's grandest football (soccer) teams, Manchester has been a pioneer on many fronts, including the arts and music, for many years. Britannia English Academy enjoys the best of this with a central location within walking distance of attractions such as the Manchester Art Gallery, Picadilly Gardens, the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Palace Theatre and much more.

Course selection: Britannia English Academy Manchester provides English language courses to adult students of all levels. In addition to General English taught over various schedules and intensities, the school also runs Ladies Only programmes, Exam Preparation (FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS), Conversation lessons, English for Specific Purposes and Erasmus+ programmes. One-to-one tuition is available independently or in conjunction with any other course.

Throughout the summer months, immersive junior programmes are also readily available to students aged 7-17 years of age.

Getting around: The school is within a 65m walk of the Charlotte Street/Chinatown bus stop and a 400m walk of the Picadilly Gardens tram stop. The Manchester Piccadilly train station is within a 10-minute walk of the school's front doors.

“This is a very common concern among the parents of our students.
And to be honest with you, it's highly unlikely that your daughter will go from B1 to B2 Cambridge in just one week.
On average, it takes between 150 and 200 hours of guided study/learning to get from one level to the next. Even with an intensive course, it's likely to be complicated. Immersion is key, but not an instant guarantee: An intensive course or immersive stay is really beneficial because it exposes the student to the language all the time. This can help to make considerable progress, especially in terms of self-confidence and fluency. However, it does not replace the hundreds of hours of practice and focused study needed to master new grammatical structures and a richer vocabulary.”

Visa Documents

Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 20. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
