Location: Lingua IT is located in the magnificent city of Verona, in northwestern Italy. The setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Verona is steeped in wonderful architecture, breathtaking views and much romanticism. Based in the Volpini-Jenna Palazzo, a historic palace that was built in the renaissance and refurbished in the 18th century, students have a fantastic opportunity to experience the city and its wonders from one of the historic centre's most beautiful buildings. Within a 5-minute walk of both Romeo and Juliet's houses, as well as attractions such as Piazza Dei Signori and the Piazza Delle Erbe, students could not have a better location for enjoying Verona to its fullest.
School facilities: The facilities of Lingua IT are excellent, with a modern and welcoming environment, allowing students to learn Italian in comfort. Facilities include a lounge area, library, movie room, cafeteria and a student support desk to help with any questions or queries that may arise. All classrooms have heating, air conditioning and ample natural light to create the optimal working environment.
Social and Cultural: Guided tours of Verona are given regularly and should not be missed. Weekend excursions to nearby artistic centres such as Venice, Parma and Trento are also very popular.
Accommodation: Accommodation with local families in Homestay or Apartments is readily available throughout the year and can be arranged through the school.

“I had two different teachers during my two weeks there. Both were friendly and energetic. I liked the small class size. We had 8 the first week and 13 the second week. The school was in a great location in the old part of Verona, which is a really lovely city. I learned enough to have a basic conversation and to deal with restaurants and hotels. I enjoyed my classmates from all over the world.”
“The school seems to be geared to people who are needing to learn Italian for work or for school. There was a heavy grammar emphasis, especially the 2nd week. It was more "serious" than I had expected. Although I spent a couple of hours a day studying, I felt like I was not keeping up. I attended looking for something new and interesting (like a hobby), not expecting that most students were preparing to live in Italy. I would suggest a little more clarity about the pace and scope of the course in the description.”

“Teaching was disorganized and poorly executed. It’s difficult to hear in the classrooms, especially when the class is doing conversation exercises and many people are talking at once. The classrooms all have hard surfaces and echo. Many face directly onto the street at ground floor level, so opening the windows to cool or air the classrooms out means tons of street noise.”

“The lessons were very good, the teacher dealt intensively with details and questions from individuals. Very nice, there was also a question and answer game to get talking and get to know the other participants better.

"The apartment is very centrally located near Piazza Bra, which on the one hand is very positive, but on the other hand it also means that you can see the concerts that take place in the arena in the evenings despite the windows being closed.
The room is small and furnished with a bed, closet and a small shelf. For writing work/homework you have to use the kitchen table. There is also no WiFi in the apartment.
I was also glad that I only booked the first week with half board, because the food was extremely modest. Of course it's not supposed to be star-rated cuisine, but something more than pasta with pesto from the supermarket shelf would have been nice.. ;-)

“Included in the Standard Language Course is a Tuesday-afternoon guided tours of Verona where an Art History teacher accompanies students around different parts of the city, each week focusing on a different aspect of Verona's art, architecture and history.
Aside from this, the school has a selection of afternoon programmes that students can join for an additional cost.
These are as follows:

How many weeks before the start date can I book my course and accommodation at the school?
“The school suggests that you book your accommodation 1-2 months in advance. This gives them plenty of time to arrange your accommodation and make sure all is in order for your arrival. This is especially the case during the summer months as both classes and accommodation book up quickly. There may be cancellations so it is always worth us checking with the school for availability. ”

Can a student change from standard course to online classes?
“In case the school would have to close due to any emergency, standard courses will be held online. They may also change the programme to an online course once the course has started, however the two courses are not the same. Online students can participate in a more passive way and cannot join all the activities held in class.

“Generally, there is no curfew for adult students. You may come and go as you please. It's usually fine to keep some drinks, salad, or fruit in the fridge. Kitchen access is available upon request. While many homestays have a television, if this is important to you, it would be best to specifically request it at the time of booking. ”
