"For some reason, the Trenitalia trains on the weekends took an exceptionally long time between Milan and Verona this time (perhaps due to a detour for maintenance/construction?). Also, I ran into a transportation strike on the final Friday, so I had to move to Milan on Thursday."

"I had two different teachers during my two weeks there. Both were friendly and energetic. I liked the small class size. We had 8 the first week and 13 the second week. The school was in a great location in the old part of Verona, which is a really lovely city. I learned enough to have a basic conversation and to deal with restaurants and hotels. I enjoyed my classmates from all over the world."

"The school seems to be geared to people who are needing to learn Italian for work or for school. There was a heavy grammar emphasis, especially the 2nd week. It was more "serious" than I had expected. Although I spent a couple of hours a day studying, I felt like I was not keeping up. I attended looking for something new and interesting (like a hobby), not expecting that most students were preparing to live in Italy. I would suggest a little more clarity about the pace and scope of the course in the description."

"The teacher was very good! He could explain well, was funny, only spoke Italian, corrected mistakes and pronunciation and gave homework and then corrected it if it was wrong. Exactly what I wanted!"

"I would have preferred a table to work on instead of a small table attached to the chair. They said you could get discounted opera tickets for the arena if you are there, but they were all sold out. When I left 2 weeks later, tickets were offered 2 days in advance. I thought that was very unfortunate. Otherwise I would have bought tickets online beforehand."

"The biggest strengths are the friendliness of the staff and the location. Verona is fabulous."

"Teaching was disorganized and poorly executed. It’s difficult to hear in the classrooms, especially when the class is doing conversation exercises and many people are talking at once. The classrooms all have hard surfaces and echo. Many face directly onto the street at ground floor level, so opening the windows to cool or air the classrooms out means tons of street noise."

"The lessons were very good, the teacher dealt intensively with details and questions from individuals. Very nice, there was also a question and answer game to get talking and get to know the other participants better. The city and museum tours with Enrico were super informative and entertaining, you shouldn't miss them. Also the cooking class with Andrea, which was also a lot of fun."

"In the second week we sat in a particularly small room with folding writing pads right next to the chair, which was quite narrow and inconvenient for writing. I would perhaps also have liked one or two offers for guided excursions in the area (e.g. Mantua or Padua), but overall the additional offers were ok."

"The apartment is very centrally located near Piazza Bra, which on the one hand is very positive, but on the other hand it also means that you can see the concerts that take place in the arena in the evenings despite the windows being closed. The room is small and furnished with a bed, closet and a small shelf. For writing work/homework you have to use the kitchen table. There is also no WiFi in the apartment. I was also glad that I only booked the first week with half board, because the food was extremely modest. Of course it's not supposed to be star-rated cuisine, but something more than pasta with pesto from the supermarket shelf would have been nice.. ;-)"

"Resources issued to us were good. Stimuli for most of the conversation work were appropriate. I thought that changing the people you worked with would have been beneficial. We virtually worked with the same person all week, unless someone decided to change seats."

"I would have liked more consideration for my inability to understand most of the audio activities. I know that is a weakness of mine but the speed of the audios was just so fast. To be fair, many of the other students handled it. I did speak to the teacher early on about the matter. The grammar and the conversations were fine - just the audio."

"The class size was great - not too large that we didn't practice enough, but large enough to be interesting. I took the tour to Vicenza with Enrico, which was a fantastic day. I loved Vicenza and Enrico taught us so much. And he spoke slowly enough that I could understand really well!"

"I would happily return to Verona. Where I haven't rated the topics, it's because I didn't encounter them. I didn't rate public transportation, but did use the train on several occasions - it isn't part of Verona, however!"
