What we like about the school

- Older students should consider that the average age of students at the school is significantly younger than at most other schools.
- Lessons are 40 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.
Location: EF International Language Center Bournemouth is located in the coastal city of Bournemouth, in southern England. The school is situated in a lively student area, within a large detached building, on the outskirts of the city centre. Close by, there are several cafés, eateries, restaurants and supermarkets, ensuring that students have all they need to feel comfortable during their time in the city. Relaxing green spaces are never far away, with the Bournemouth Upper Gardens a 9-minute walk from the school. The attractions of the city centre and the Bournemouth coastline are also just a short walk away, such locations as the Bournemouth Pier, the Russell Coats Art Gallery, several bars and clubs, and the Oceanarium, all within a 20-minute walk of the school's front doors. Bournemouth International Airport is within an hours bus journey or 20-minute taxi from the school, ensuring all arrivals and departures can be made with ease.
School facilities: The school's facilities are exemplary, offering students' all they may need to reach their language goals, in a comfortable environment. Classrooms have state-of-the-art technology, are spacious and have excellent lighting, offering fantastic opportunities for student engagement. Facilities include a cafeteria, a games room, a garden and a variety of games tables. All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating and have ample natural light to ensure an optimal learning environment for all.

If you would like to improve your English in the coastal area of Bournemouth on a schedule of roughly 17 hours per week, with cultural activities organised by the school, then EF Bournemouth’s General Course could be the perfect choice for you.
The school promises that if you complete all assignments that are asked of you, then you will improve by one course level every six weeks. To measure this, you will be asked to take a new placement test once every five weeks - so you are always having your English development monitored and evaluated.
Students on the General Course also get to take 4 Special Interest Lessons per week, which are based on a subject of the learner’s choosing. The school is situated just a 10 minute walk from Bournemouth’s city centre, beach and pier. Additionally, you can expect the school to occasionally organise weekend trips to major cities around Europe, which will give you a fun and adventurous context in which to put your English to the test!

- Generally, course material has to be purchased by all students at the school. The costs of course material will be approximately €45 per course level.

The cost of course materials vary depending on the duration of the course:
- 1-6 weeks: EUR 45,
- 7-12 weeks: EUR 80,
- 13-18 weeks: EUR 120,
- 19-24 weeks: EUR 160,
- 25-30 weeks: EUR 200,
- 31-36 weeks: EUR 240.

Students must book a travel insurance, which covers the whole period of the course and stay in Bournemouth. Students can book Erika Insurance Coverage via the school: - Two weeks: EUR 85.
- Per additional extra week: EUR 40.
Students can have another insurance but they must prove they have booked another one.
Accommodation: - The twin room homestay included in the tuition price can be upgraded to a single room homestay for EUR 55 per week.
- Homestays are no further than 60 minutes by public transportation from school.
- Residence accommodation is also available upon request and subject to availability.
Special dietary requirements will cost EUR 55 per week.
Classes are likely to take place on some days in the morning and other days in the afternoon. Students will be given the exact timetable closer to the start date. These are sample times and may change depending on availability and time of year. The 26 lessons is likely to follow the 20 lessons per week structure with the extra six lessons taking place after the morning classes or before the afternoon classes, two lessons on three days. In some cases four extra lessons could fall on the same day for course over 20 hours per week.

- Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 120 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 20. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
