What we dislike about the school
- Lessons are 45 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.
Venue: EC English 30+ in New York City is located in Midtown Manhattan, near the ultra famous Times Square. Housed on the 11th floor of the Paramount Building, the school is just a few minutes away from the Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, the Rockefeller Center and the MOMA. The Times Square - 42 St Subway station is about a block away from the school, giving students easy access to the rest of the city, its fabulous neighbourhoods and many well-known attractions.
Course selection: The EC New York 30+ programmes include General English courses of varying intensities, as well as courses geared towards business-minded students such as English for Work, English + Executive Coaching, and Internship programmes. EC New York 30+ also offers several programmes which have a New York flair about them, incorporating language learning with culturally oriented classes or activities, such as their English in the City or their English + Dancing courses. Additionally, EC’s 30+ school in New York runs a springtime programme for students over 50, EC Escapes, which provides an immersive experience as students discover the city through guided tours and outings alongside their English language studies.

Getting there: EC New York 30+ is centrally situated for arrival to New York. It is about an hour away from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) by train and about the same from LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Both Penn Station and Grand Central Station are about a 15 minute walk from the school, and the 42 Street Port Authority Bus Terminal is only two blocks away.

This course consists of 20 general English lessons and 10 English in the City lessons per week. These 10 lessons are focused around learning more about the city you are learning English in. You will learn about the art and culture and focus on how the locals use the language.
Depending on the available timetable, students enrolled in this course will be taken outside the classroom 1 or 2 times per week. There will be assessments throughout the course which take place both in the classroom and through assignments. Additionally, there will be 5 weekly progress tests, 5 weekly tutorials and an exit test. Students will receive a certificate on completion in recognition of the skills they have learnt.
