Location: AIP Language Institute Valencia is located in the artistic and cultural city of Valencia, Spain. A student-friendly city, Valencia has much to offer. AIP Language Institute is housed in a perfect area for students, between two universities and within 10-minutes of the beach and 15-minutes of the city centre. Within the prestige neighbourhood of Benimaclet, the school has many amenities, shops, eateries, restaurants and links to public transport within easy reach. There are also several green areas and attractions close by. Sites of interest within walking distance of the school include the Jardins del Real/Vivers, the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia, the Natural Science Museum of Valencia and the Central Market of Valencia, to name just a few.

Getting around: The school is a short 300m walk from the Benimaclet metro and tram station and has several bus routes nearby, offering students excellent access to the city and the surrounding areas. Valencia's central train station is within a 15-minute journey of the school via public transport.

Social and Cultural: The school regularly arranges activities such as Paella masterclasses and guided tours of the city. In addition to this the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe and the Valencia Bioparc are just some of the unique features that the city has to offer. Historical locations within easy reach of the school include the Valencia Cathedral and La Lonja de la Seda.

“The school has very bad organisation, on the first day you lose the first hour of class, even if you submit the level test and have an online interview beforehand. If you have a group class purchased but there are no more than 4 people at your level then the number of hours is reduced and you pay the same. The teachers (not all of course) are poor, with no enthusiasm for their work, they translate in English or type a word into google and read the definition in Spanish, without making the effort to explain in their own words, if they have any material it is inadequate to the level.
At school, there are cockroaches walking around in the bathrooms.”
Quality of teaching / language progress: All in all I was cheated and the course didn't take place, out of 10 days I booked, only 4 took place.
Other comments: Despite having sent an enquiry about the possibility of accommodation on a particular date and having received a positive reply, after a few days I received information that it was impossible, which meant that I had to look for other accommodation two days before and one day after in a flat shared with the school.

“The way the language was taught was fantastic, easy to understand and slow enough that the information would be transferred.”
“However, as much as I liked the classes, it was pretty expensive and many people would not be able to have the opportunity to learn from you. Which is shame because it's a really good school! I also find that being put into a classroom with people studying for longer periods of time doesn't help since I learned at their pace rather than a pace for two weeks of classes.”

“My first accommodation was not according to my expectations regarding the cleanliness of the kitchen and with locals. In general, finding an accommodation in Valencia is very challenging, although the school and those responsible put a lot of effort into it.”

Quality of teaching / language progress: I had taken the intensive course. The lessons were mostly online, due to the current Corona situation. Actually, I only wanted to brush up my Spanish for 4 weeks. At the beginning of the 4th week the teacher (who had already looked after me for the first full 3 weeks) convinced me to book another week and take the certificate. I received feedback on the test very late (after more than 3 months).
Other comments: If online courses are offered, teachers should receive appropriate training so that they can use the technology.

"The evaluation of the accommodation relates to the host family. The host is really a very nice older lady who also takes the time and tries to have a conversation. I had the small room with little space, no desk but quiet. I would have rated the large room with 5 stars.

I would like to know what English courses the school offers in July.
“The school offers English courses (and other languages such as Catalan/Valencià, French, Italian and German) for all levels, both face-to-face and online, throughout the year. You can choose from General English, Exam Preparation, Business English and Conversation courses.

The Standard English course consists of 3 hours per week, 1 or 2 days per week, in a course which places special emphasis on developing the student's oral expression. The classes are based on communication, so you will start speaking English from day one.”

“If you have dyslexia or another learning disorder, it is important to choose your target language carefully. Languages with a close correspondence between pronunciation and spelling, such as Italian and Spanish, may be easier for you to learn. In contrast, English can be more challenging due to its less consistent spelling and pronunciation. In particular, Spanish has almost a 1-to-1 correspondence between letter combinations and sounds.
