Location: Sun, sea and palm trees are what people talk about when they visit the beautiful beach town of Jaco Beach. On this pristine coast, to the west of Costa Rica and just an hour and a half from the capital, lies the boutique style language school named School of the World Surf Camp. With 20 years of experience in teaching Spanish to foreign students from a wide range of different nationalities, the school offers its students a tranquil setting for complete absorption into the Spanish language.
Local attractions: The climate of the area is tropical and there are some interesting tours in the area to get away from the beach for a day. These activities include going for a hike up Mount Miros, exploring Carara National Park and Manuel Antonio National Park or taking a tour through the waterfalls in the area.
Surf lessons: True to its name, the school is very focused on the great surf prospects in the area, which are compatible throughout the year. All the Spanish classes available can be combined with surf lessons and the 10-minute walk to the beach from the school is the perfect warm up to take on the waves.
Yoga: The tranquility of the beach also attracts a lot of yogis, who start their day with a sun salutation to a beautiful sunrise. Similar to the structure of the surf lessons, School of the World Surf Camp provides students with the option to take yoga lessons from a professional teacher with any of their language courses. It is impossible to think of a reason not to learn Spanish in this flawless location.

“Meals are not included in the price (which covers the course and accommodation). We have a big, beautiful, fully-equipped kitchen in the house, where students can cook and eat. There are many supermarkets, fruit and vegetable markets, local Costa Rican restaurants (with great food at great prices!) and many other restaurants/ cafes within 5-10 minutes walking distance from the school.”
