Venue: MaestroMío is located in Madrid’s vibrant La Latina neighbourhood. One of the older parts of the city, La Latina is full of narrow, winding streets and is a popular area for sampling Madrid’s tapas scene. MaestroMío is ideally located only ten minutes’ walk from some of the city’s most important attractions: the Plaza Mayor, the Palacio Real and the Catedral de Santa María la Real de la Almudena. Only a 4 minute walk from the school, students will find the bustling Mercado de la Cebada, one of Madrid’s largest markets. La Latina is also home to the Real Basílica de San Francisco, which has works by major Spanish painters Zurbarán and Goya. You’ll find it just at the end of the street, when you walk out the school’s front door.
Courses: Students at MaestroMío can choose from different study options for General Spanish, whether in group courses, private lessons, or a combination thereof. The school runs exam preparation programmes for the DELE exam and they offer programmes which combine language learning and cultural experiences for students over 50.
Getting Around: Madrid is a vast city with an extensive public transportation system of buses, metro and trains, making it easy to get anywhere you’d like to go. The closest metro station to MaestroMío is La Latina, a six minute walk from the school. With so much to see in the city, students may find themselves walking and discovering unexpected places along the way. From the school it takes about half an hour to walk to the Prado Museum, its Botanical Garden, and the nearby Parque del Retiro and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum; if you don’t stop somewhere else along the way.
MaestroMío: MaestroMío works with its own personalised methodology which it has been perfecting for over forty years, since they opened their first school in Málaga in the 1980s. The Madrid school opened at the very beginning of 2025 and continues to build on MaestroMío’s excellent reputation for high quality, immersive teaching and a focus on real-world communication skills. Their immersive teaching method uses textbooks of their own devising and places a strong emphasis on communication skills in tune with modern Spanish speakers.
