What we dislike about the school

Navigating the city: Montreal is a bilingual Canadian city where M.I.I.L.A offers courses in both French and English. The new campus is located in the heart of Downtown Montreal, just steps away from the McGill and Peel metro stations (Green Line). This central location makes it easy for students to explore the city’s highlights, including the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and Mount Royal Park, all within walking distance or a short metro ride. The downtown setting also provides access to countless cafés, shops, and cultural venues, immersing students in the vibrant life of the city.

Location: The school is now situated in a modern office building on Sherbrooke Street West, surrounded by universities, cultural institutions, and business centres. This professional environment offers updated facilities and places students right in the middle of Montreal’s academic and cultural hub. While the new location does not feature the outdoor patio or cafeteria of the old campus, students benefit from being in a lively downtown district with endless dining and leisure options nearby.

Accreditation: M.I.I.L.A is accredited by Languages Canada / CAPLS and affiliated with other institutes.

Course structure: There are 3 courses available at the school: a semi-intensive programme, a premium-intensive programme and a super-intensive programme. The Premium course also includes the option to join a workshop, a reading club or tutorials. The Super Intensive programme provides students with a selection of elective courses to specialise in an area of specific interest to the individual. These elective courses are not available for complete beginners.

Teaching style: The size of the class is between 6 - 12, small enough for good student-teacher ratios but large enough for practical group work. The teachers are all highly trained and have different teaching methods at hand to mould the learning to the needs of the group. There is student monitoring throughout the course for suggestive improvements and to build confidence in the areas each student is strong in. This is a very motivating technique in learning a language and really encourages participation.

Other comments: The organization on-site is actually a bit chaotic, even though everyone is friendly. When booking a one-to-one course, I would have liked to have been able to communicate with the school before the course start to talk about topics to focus on so that the teacher could have prepared for them. My email with topic requests reached the school, but not the teacher. There are reasons why you book expensive one-to-one lessons...

The evaluations by students after they complete a course is excellent. The discount for using your website is also a great incentive. It also would be wonderful if the website would include more cities and a bigger selection of schools in each city.
Basil Havens verified client
The service of languagecourse.net is great, I booked already 3 schools and I can highly recommend it. In fact, I tell everybody I meet on my journey in South America about this website and how well everything is organized.
Gabriele Ragger verified client
I am very satisfied. I found more/relevant information on your webpage than on the school's website itself. It is the cheapest offer. I'm going to book my next course on your site soon.

Just keep up the good work. The organization is excellent, so that even less experienced travellers would feel ok to come to China. I also felt really good in the host family, they were really great!
