Location: Lusa Language School is located in the colourful and friendly Portuguese capital city of Lisbon. Housed in the Cais do Sodré district, the school has excellent nearby transportation options such as bus, train and trams, ensuring students can move around the city and further afield easily. Attractions such as The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Praça Luís de Camões and The National Theatre of São Carlos are all within walking distance of the school, along with many shops, restaurants and eateries.
Course selection: Course selection with Lusa Language is between an Intensive Course (20 lessons per week), Immersions Course (25 lessons per week) and Private Lessons. All courses are available to students of all levels, throughout the whole year.
Accommodation: Accommodation with the school is readily available, with a variety of Homestay options in different districts throughout the city, as well as Summer Residences throughout the summer months.
School facilities: The facilities of the school are excellent, and include a library, free after-class language learning software and a student support desk for any questions or queries. All classrooms have air conditioning, with most having ample natural light to help create the optimal learning environment.
Additional information: Lusa Language School promotes the importance of experiencing the life and culture of the Portuguese locals, along with grammar and language exercises, to progress understanding of the local language. Many cultural visits and social activities are arranged throughout the year, introducing students to the beauty of Lisbon.

“Overall, I am satisfied with Lusa Language school and would recommend it. Also the facility is very nice and new and the classrooms bright and comfortable. Small groups of maximum 8/10 people make a difference in learning. My overall rating of the school is good, I was hoping to learn more but Portuguese is really a very difficult language and 2 weeks is too short. I found the teachers to be well prepared, the course materials distributed were of good quality, and the theory and grammar part was well explained by both teachers. The location at the historic center was also very central and both the lecturers but also the secretariat were very kind and friendly. I am also very grateful to the school management who met my many requests and listened to my comments and criticisms carefully and tried to meet my needs and that is commendable. I found all the staff good. I thank the legendary Veronica who helped me so much in choosing the school and was perfect as a mediator and had great patience in answering all my e-mails over the course of 6 months and above all showed great professionalism and preparation, really great, congratulations!”
“I liked the school in general but there are some points that in my opinion should be improved.
The cultural activities are really scarce and this is really a pity because it helps the participants to know and improve the oral language, the listening part and to know the culture and customs of the place and also to jump in and talk and it helps to bring participants from different groups together and make new friends otherwise it can feel a bit lonely. In two weeks only 2 activities were offered, visit to Caiscais, which I had already seen, but this is not the school's fault and visit to a beautiful museum with the remains of the Roman Theater and ruins with a very good guide. Really beautiful this visit and allowed me to get to know 2 kids from an upper level class. Unfortunately there were only 5 of us at the visit although it was very well organized. The activities were not advertised and promoted with a poster hanging at the entrance of the floor or communicated during the lesson or highlighted but only sent via e-mail with other information and so were not valued and highlighted. In my opinion we should offer at least two cultural activities per week just on city knowledge and offer a tour of the historic center for new students starting a course.
So I would recommend improving the communication of the organized activities by communicating them at least in the class hour because they create group spirit and you also learn from guided tours etc...... Another sore point that everything is explained in English, even during the lessons, you risk listening to English most of the time and learning more English than Portuguese and also the students were always asking questions in English and this was a bit heavy. Fortunately, the second teacher spoke a little more Portuguese. I understand that my group was beginners and it was not obvious, especially for those who are not neo-Latin speakers and since the course is attended by people who speak mostly English and for that reason that if more cultural activities were offered where the explanations are given mostly in Portuguese more English could be improved. In fact, I am a little disappointed that I did not improve the oral and especially the spoken language aspect. I think the learning method should also include a time where you practice speaking in practical situations, but I understand that in the beginning when you are a beginner you work on grammar and vocabulary. To sum up, I would increase cultural visits, out-of-hours gathering times, and make an effort for everyone to speak in Portuguese and not English (secretary, teachers, etc...) but learners should also make an effort in this regard”

“I loved the methodology and the teaching staff, I have learned a lot in the intensive course, I consider it very good, and I would continue if it were cheaper because it is worth it. I recommend this school, I am very happy with how much I have advanced, and how I have managed to speak so much in such a short time. In any case, it has market prices, as many other language schools costs the same or more, and it works very well because the groups are small and very interactive...”

“Teachers and teaching were very good and efficient. I learned a lot. There could have been more varied activities organised by the school instead of just a dinner once a week usually in a expensive restaurant considering there are many really good authentic Portuguese and not expensive ones to choose from.”

- The school organises weekly cultural activities such as visiting Castelo de São Jorge or Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, providing cooking classes, visiting a local garden, going for a trip to Belém or visiting one of the local museums. These vary from week to week. The school also organises sporting events, including surf classes, bike rides, stand-up paddle or mega boarding. Every Friday there is a dinner for students to socialise together.

“On Friday prior to the start date my colleagues will send an email with all the information about the course. On the 1st day you only need to bring a notebook and a pen, the rest will be provided by the school. ”

The Portuguese summer course consists of classes held in the mornings or afternoons from Monday to Friday. On Friday nights, dinners are organised at the company’s favourite restaurants with teachers and staff, providing an opportunity to meet others and practice the language.
This course includes accommodation in a student residence, offering private rooms with shared bathrooms. Students will be placed in one of two available residences, at the discretion of the school and subject to availability.
