Location: Lexis English is situated in the suburb of Manly, north of Sydney. It is across the Sydney Harbour from the core of Sydney, and extends into the North Harbour. The school is on the coast and is well positioned in the centre of the area where all the bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels, supermarkets and clothing stores are.
Travelling around: Manly itself is small and easy to walk around. Most people opt to use the ferry to reach Sydney from Manly. The ferry station is a 5-minute walk from Lexis English. It takes around 20 minutes to reach Sydney, and the Quay is close to the Sydney Opera House and the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is also possible to use the bus service to reach Sydney centre from Manly. The bus stations are within a five minute walking radius from the school.
Main attractions: Manly Beach is a popular surf beach in the region. Lexis English is on the beachfront strip of Manly Beach, overlooking the sand. North Head is the bottom tip of Manly and has some interesting attractions including the Sydney Harbour National Park, The Barracks Precinct and hiking routes. The end tip of North Head is about 45 minutes from the school, with excellent views of the surrounding area.
Course structure: General English is taught as group lessons or private classes. There are exam preparation courses for the Cambridge and IELTS exam. The school offers packages for teens for the summer months.
Social programme: The school offers a busy social calendar for students to join including pub nights and other events for students to socialise with their peers.

This course fully complies with the official Bildungsurlaub requirements, offering employees the opportunity to use their educational leave for meaningful professional and personal development. Participants benefit from 25 hours of structured language instruction aimed at strengthening communication skills for the workplace and beyond. "The first two weeks were perfect. We were a compatible small group with a dedicated teacher. The lessons were great and a lot of fun. After that, I was the only one who had booked the course and unfortunately there were no more suitable participants, so students from other courses were sought out. That was a good attempt, but some of the students were younger and some were not particularly committed, which is very noticeable in a small group."

“Located directly on Manly Beach and with a view of the ocean, the school's location is unbeatable. It's great that there are large balconies overlooking the sea where you can sit during the break or sometimes even during lessons. There are also countless cafés, restaurants, ice cream parlours, shops, etc. in the surrounding area where you can buy something to eat and drink.
The quality of the lessons was very good; the teachers taught in a professional and interesting way. They were very friendly and adapted well to all the students. I learnt a lot and enjoyed going to the lessons.
The organisers were very friendly and always had an open ear for any concerns or questions. I felt very welcome.
There was a weekly programme with some fun leisure activities. However, I would have liked a bit more of that.”

“The organisation of the excursions and leisure activities has room for improvement. Unfortunately, there were no real school-organised excursions, but "only" an agency that we worked with. As no places were reserved for the school in advance, many tours were booked up very quickly or only very few people had the chance to go. I would have liked more excursions organised by the school, e.g. with its own bus, but also walks and joint activities after lessons.”
Quality of teaching / language progress: The first two weeks were perfect. We were a compatible small group with a dedicated teacher. The lessons were great and a lot of fun. After that, I was the only one who had booked the course and unfortunately there were no more suitable participants, so students from other courses were sought out. That was a good attempt, but some of the students were younger and some were not particularly committed, which is very noticeable in a small group.

Are there any organizations that can accommodate a group of 10 or less students with visual impairments from middle and high school to study abroad in Australia? The duration is 2 to 3 weeks, accommodation is preferably homestay, and no special needs are required due to disability.

“In the books and materials are included the didactic material used by the teachers during classes. The school recommends students to bring a notebook and pens to take notes and on the first day, they also need to bring a copy of their passport (it can be a digital version) and visa so the campus can confirm students' identities and enter their visa details in the system.

“We do not have this information at this stage as it depends on the availability of families at the chosen period. But based on information received from our former students, we can give you an estimate of the distance. It would appear that the families are all about 30 minutes from the school by public transport. Most likely in more residential areas.”

“Absolutely not! Host families are used to welcoming students of all ages and from all walks of life, so you'll always be welcome, whatever your age. What's more, the school often places students with families with matching profiles. If you have any preferences (family with/without children, smokers (non-smokers), single parents, etc.), please let us know in the comments section when you make your booking. We will pass this information on to the school and they will do their research in this direction and try to find you (as far as possible) a family that matches your selection criteria. ”
