Location: El Aula Azul Santanderis a Spanish language centre located in the city of Santander, the capital city of Spain's northeastern region of Cantabria. The school is housed in the heart of the city, in the trendy Puertochico neighbourhood. The school is close to amenities, eateries, restaurants and several attractions and places of social and cultural interest. Such places within walking distance include the Los Raqueros sculpture, Plaza de Pompo, the Paseo Maritimo de Santander and many more.
Getting around: With its central location, the school offers students the chance to walk around and see the city. For any travel further afield, the Santander train station is around a 25-minute walk from the school's front doors. Seve Ballesteros - Santander Airport is around a 40-minute journey via public transport or a 20-minute taxi from the school's front doors.
Methodology: El Aula Azul uses a predominantly Communicative and oral method of teaching which is based on continuous progress monitoring and assistance.
Course selection: The school covers all CEFR levels from absolute beginners through to advanced level students. In addition to General Spanish, the El Aula Azul Santander also provides Private tuition which is available in conjunction with or independently from any other course or programme.
School facilities: The school has modern and renovated facilities in the city centre, ensuring students have all they need. Classrooms have ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.

“There are only two classrooms. As a result, with the level you have, you have to "fit" into one of the two groups. Lessons are given at the level of the people with the highest level. So if you are at a lower level, you are on your toes for five days. If you are at a school where more 'levels' are taught at the same time, you can move around more easily during the course.”
Insider tip: “Consider carefully whether to go here because of the limited number of levels that can be taught at the same time. If you are a beginner, I would not choose this school in Santander. It is too small for this or you will be lucky if there are only beginners.”

“I liked that the classes were small, which meant there was plenty of time to talk and receive almost one-to-one attention. The teachers were all really motivated. It was fun :)”
“The school feels a bit provisional. Classrooms are located one behind the other (you have to go through the first one to get to the second) or in a room without a door, where you can hear the reception area and the toilet is right next door. This means you are often disturbed by people walking past, etc.”

The accommodation was great. Montse was really nice and the apartment was great. I was allowed to use the kitchen and washing etc was no problem. Very satisfied.

“Our school makes sure that the lessons are tailored to each level. Kilian is taught in a suitable course according to his level. If there are three or more students in the group, three hours a day are taught; if there are only two, two hours. If Kilian is alone in his group, it is 1.5 hours a day. Every young student we have taken on so far has thoroughly enjoyed the experience. :)”

When will we be told the address of the host family for my son? Can we assume that the distance to the language school is manageable on foot or that there is public transport?
“We will give you the address of the host family and all contact details one week before arrival. The family is about a 30-minute walk away (young students usually walk), but there is also a public bus. The ticket costs €1, each journey about €0.35. On the day of his arrival, the family will show him the way to school.”
