Location: Bayswater Paris is a French language school located in the historic and culturally rich French capital, Paris. The school is housed on the cobbled streets of the Monnaie neighbourhood, close to the banks of the Seine, the Latin Quarter, and many sites of social and cultural interest. The facility is well set up with good classrooms, communal spaces, microwaves, refrigerator, coffee machine (though expensive), bathrooms, etc., etc. There are multiple places for a quick lunch very close by. I also liked that teachers insisted on French in class and continued to speak with me outside of class in French. I felt immersed in French all week! It was great!”

Which makes this school definitely a bit less suitable for a “language learning vacation”, if you are looking for that.”

Other comments: Cons: There was no wireless internet available for the entire month of August. Just before leaving for France, I was asked to provide proof of my payment to the school as they could not find it. After I had wired the money to the school, I emailed a request that they confirmed that they received the money. I received a response that they had, indeed, received the money. So it was disconcerting to be asked to provide proof of payment. I understand that ownership has changed and this has caused some transition difficulties.

“Bayswater is located at 13 Passage Dauphine - 75006 Paris. The school is perfectly located on a quiet pedestrian street in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It is very close to all attractions: the banks of the Seine, the Louvre Museum or the Orsay Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral or the Luxembourg Park are within walking distance. Where exactly are the host families located?
“Homestay accommodation is organized at the time of booking. Personal interests of the students, eating habits, allergies, age, etc. are taken into account in the assignment. The families are about 45 minutes away from the school by public transport. Some students are closer to the school, others also have to drive a little longer. We cannot guarantee that in advance because we do not yet know your personal profile. Unfortunately, you cannot select a specific family in advance of the booking, because the school only organizes the accommodation when you make the reservation.”

My daughter is already 14 and is now in her 5th year learning French. How is the course structured? If very young children take part there, they are probably beginners. Are there learning groups based on age or level of knowledge?
“The children in the programme are 10-14 years old and are divided into different classes after a placement test. Your daughter will then learn at a fairly high level with correspondingly older students, according to her level of knowledge. The materials and teaching methods are also adapted to the interests of juniors so that they have fun while learning!”
