Location: Tochigi International Education Institute (TIEI) is located in the heart of Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan. Surrounding the school there are many eateries, including several popular dumpling restaurants. Attractions, such as the Oya History Museum, the Oya Temple, the Four Seasons Bamboo Forest and the Tochigiken Central Park, are all within a 30-minute journey of the school via public transport.
Getting around: The school is a moment's walk from the Tobu-Utsunomiya train station and is an 11-minute journey from Utsunomiya's central train station. There are also bus routes within walking distance, offering excellent access to many of the city's main attractions. The school is within a 90-minute journey of Tokyo via train. Narita International Airport is a 2-hour car journey or a 3-hour train ride from the school.
Course selection: Tochigi International Education Institute offers a Job Preparatory Programme, open to students aged 18-30 years. The course includes Japanese lessons, business manner lessons, job hunting and interview practice.
Accommodation: The school can provide accommodation in local apartments and dormitory facilities, both within 15-minute bicycle rides of the school. Options with cooking and washing facilities are available.
Social and cultural: The Tochigi prefecture is famous for its strawberries and dumplings. It also is where you find the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Shrines and Temples of Nikkō.
