Location: Skool Cornwall is situated in the historic remnants of an old tin mine’s engine house in Wheal Kitty next to St Agnes, a picturesque village on the north Cornwall coast which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A few steps from the classroom, magnificent granite cliffs mark the edge of the earth and the beginning of the wild Atlantic Ocean. The village coffee shops, pubs and restaurants are within easy walking distance, so too is the white sand beach - the beautiful Trevaunance Cove.

The English with Walking course combines morning English lessons with afternoon walks or hikes. The Cornish peninsula offers hundreds of miles of coast path, providing stunning and accessible vistas for walkers.
Morning classes are held in modern clifftop classrooms, focusing on improving English conversation and grammar with expert teachers. In the afternoons, students will hike through landscapes made famous by Rosamunde Pilcher, Poldark, and Raynor Winn, guided by experienced hikers who will walk at your pace.
Participants need a degree of physical fitness and good walking shoes. The course is designed to showcase the beautiful setting on foot, rather than as an endurance challenge.

I think the 25-hour course is impossible and the 20-hour course is not very suitable.

Despite having several jobs (some of which were in the evenings), they made sure that one of them was always there in the evenings and always offered to cook; the food was very good too. On some evenings, however, we also went out for a meal together as a school group.

Can anyone take part in the walks in the "English with Walking" course?
“The school emphasises that the hikes are suitable for all levels. It is not an extreme sporting challenge ("not an endurance challenge"), but the pace is comfortable so that you can enjoy the scenery. Good walking shoes and a waterproof jacket are essential. Hiking poles are recommended as an option if you feel more secure with them.”

“We aim to walk for 2-3 hours (ordinarily around 12km - occasionally little longer). We tend to leave at about 2, and then we’ll be back for 17:00.”

“We do have some host families with a private bathroom, but we cannot guarantee it during the high season. If it's something the student must have, we always recommend choosing private accommodation, just in case.”

Visa Documents
Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 20. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
