Location: The Lessane Arabi Center is located in the quiet and leafy neighbourhood of Arset Sbaai in the vibrant city of Marrakesh. A short walk from the trendy shops and cafes of the Gueliz district and with an easy commute to the picturesque Medina (Old Town), the school is in the perfect place to allow you to study in peace, whilst only being a short distance from the centre of Marrakesh.

“The teacher made an effort to address the differences in level between my classmate and me. I was the weaker of the two of us. It was a disadvantage for me that she wrote down the rules of grammar in the Arabic language on the whiteboard. It would have been easier for me in French. In general, I think that this school requires a very good command of French. I was able to get by with AI.”
“The facilities in the classrooms are very basic. The school is housed in a newly built flat (of poor construction quality), located far out on the outskirts of town. In good traffic conditions (at midday), the journey by bus takes 45 minutes; in the evening rush hour, it takes two hours.
The equipment – take the whiteboard, for example – used to be white, but by now it has probably been written on and wiped clean a thousand times. This means the colour is now dark grey, which made the writing difficult to read in the poor lighting. I took a photo each time so I could look at it again at home, but I could barely make out what was written. I could send photos via WhatsApp. Another drawback of an Arabic course in Morocco is that people in Marrakesh mostly speak Tamazight, the Berber language. If I compare this school with the schools I attended in Beirut and in Oman (Muscat and Ibri), I recommend the school in Oman. It is more expensive, though, but the teaching, organisation, accommodation and excursions are very good.”
