Location: Kyoto JaLS is a Japanese language school located in the vibrant and traditional city of Kyoto in Japan. This state-of-the-art school is close to public transport networks and surrounded by amenities, convenience stores, eateries, supermarkets and commercial shopping. Attractions and sites of interest within walking distance of the school include the Museum of Kyoto, Kyoto Owl's Forest, the Kyoto International Manga Museum, Nijō Castle and much more. The Kyoto Gyoen National Garden and the Imperial Palace are also within walking distance of the school.
School facilities: Kyoto JaLS facilities are modern and well-situated in relation to the city's sites of interest. These modern facilities include several classrooms, a bookshop, a cafeteria and a student lounge. Free WIFI is also available.
Accommodation: The school is experienced in arranging both long and short-term accommodation for students throughout the year. They can supply options for homestay in local families, shared apartments, and private apartments, subject to availability.
Social and cultural: Kyoto is a city that is abundant with social and cultural activities. The school happily arranges many activities for students, which can include karaoke nights, dining at restaurants, watching movies, city tours, food tastings and much more. The school also frequently arranges excursions, including overnight trips to places such as Nara, Yamazaki, Kobe, Himeji Castle and more.

“Super invested staff; they make an effort to introduce you to people who have similar interests or experiences. The offer of activities is 6 days a week, and they are very good value. Transport is included in the price, and they make an effort to make a lot of pictures of everyone so you're creating so many nice memories!
I wished I booked the entire autumn course (5 weeks) instead of the 4 that I did.
You can enter at any level, and they check in with you to make sure you feel comfortable with the class level. But they also keep in mind that the energies match, so if you are a bit talkative in class and above your level, you might have to tone it down a bit and be a good student to prove your worth, which I actually appreciated a lot because it puts the masses above the individual.

It was a modern house, easy to clean. Instructions everywhere on how to clean, yet I arrived in an absolutely dusty, dirty place.
Once I gave it a good cleanse, it was very liveable; however, the walls are maybe a bit thin, but that comes with the price, I guess.

"There were some things not provided that I would definitely expect in an apartment rented out for short term use. There were no cooking utensils, not even a single pot, nor were there any cups or glasses. I had to go and buy my own shower curtain, which was extremely hard to get rid of afterwards, given the Japanese garbage disposal system. I also was expected to clean the room when moving out. No problem as such, but again, there were no cleaning supplies like a vacuum cleaner or even a broom. On the other hand there were things provided that I would expect in a hotel, like shampoo, conditioner an body soap. That was a little random in my opinion.

“All accommodation options are located at least 25 minutes by public transport from the school. You can request accommodation as close to the school as possible, but rooms in Kyoto sell out very quickly and the school cannot guarantee a given distance or location of accommodation until 1 week before the course starts. If you want to stay in a particular area, the best option would be to book accommodation on your own.”
