Location: Bay Learning Academy Tauranga is an English language institute located on the outskirts of New Zealand's Tauranga, in the laid-back suburb of Mount Maunganui. The school is well located in relation to several amenities, shopping malls, eateries, green spaces and attractions. Course selection: Courses are given with small class sizes, ensuring maximum personal attention for group courses. In addition to General English which is available to students of all levels, Bay Learning Academy also supplies Exam Preparation programmes (IELTS, CAE, PTE) and Business English.
Te Reo Maori, Spanish and NZ Sign Language courses may also be available upon request.
Getting around: The school is within walñking distance of several bus routes, ensuring travel around the area is readily available. The Tauranga Airport is also within a 10-minute taxi ride of the school.

“It feels like a family-run business. Small, laid-back, and welcoming. As for punctuality, well, classes rarely start right on time, and that’s just accepted. People bring their dogs, and they run around—which didn’t bother anyone.

“The teaching materials. There isn’t a single textbook – apparently because it’s too expensive – so the teacher switches between various sources, including different books and occasionally newspapers. This results in such a massive pile of paper that it actually made it harder for me to study. After six days of lessons, I had 49 photocopies. They just lie around in my rucksack, and nobody takes a pile of paper like that home with them. With a book, you have the answers and can check your own work. You can take that home with you too. Online lessons are available, but I haven’t used them once in five weeks – in other words, they haven’t been put to use.
There’s nowhere to sit outside. Cars are parked in front of the school and the back yard is too narrow; there are stackable chairs, but you can’t set them up, and yes, that was a shame.”
