"Kiev is OK. I want to go back in summer, when everything is green and the days are longer. Location of school: OK Organization: bad. No secretariat, teacher in the constant stress, owner looks over from time to time. Equipment: Blackboard with chalk, other media not available or not used. Leisure activities: overpriced offers, or 1 x theater for the equivalent of 1 € in the farthest corner of the theater. Quality: Frontal teaching with a focus on textbook and panic if something took longer. Lesson content is spoken, written on the board, prompted to copy and at the same time! queried as knowledge. How does that work? No handouts! The amount of homework has prevented many recreational activities. Accommodation: A room with a very young couple with another subtenant. Cats. Little contact. For the same price you can rent your own apartment in Kiev."

"All those who have never been to Russian-speaking countries would need at least a week of basic training before struggling with grammar.
How to call the waiter, what to order, how to pay. What are the rules in the city, in public transport, etc.?
Definitely recommended: a day trip to Chernobyl. Buy theater, opera and ballet tickets right at the beginning of your stay. It is almost free by our standards (even for German pensioners)."

"For the lessons there was only some imaginary order in the English/Russian textbook as a goal. Language of instruction except Russian was English. Basic grammar for explanations was English grammar.
Conclusion: not recommended!"

"First of all you must know that Ukraine is not doing very well economically. It's in this context that I am making my comments. The school is located in an old building. On the ground floor there is no advertising of this school, which seems strange. The advertising is located at the door's entry (which is the minimum). Apart from the skills and kindness of the teacher, there is a cruel lack of means:
- No paper available to students
- The teacher had not even a ruler to draw a line. She used a carton packaging.
- All the pens she had been given to her by students. The draft paper was also given by a student.
- Teaching materials come down to nothing (on a table was a TV that I have never seen functioning). However, for each course I received handouts documents.
- During the breaks I was drinking tea without sugar (there was not). No coffee either.
The transfers went very well. Despite all above not very good, I marked higher than 10. Finally I would say that the city of Kiev alone is worth the trip! Best regards. Olivier Truchon."
