"There is always something going on in St. Julian's, day or night. The nightlife in Paceville is very lively, almost a bit crowded. But there are restaurants, cafés, bars and shops everywhere, right on the waterfront or in the centre. In the evening, it's worth taking a stroll along the illuminated seafront promenade to Sliema. There are also beautiful beaches for swimming enthusiasts.
All in all, it is a very beautiful, lively city that has something to offer everyone."

"I only give the second accommodation a total of two stars because the hostess didn't always treat me well. Location, meals very good, room good.
With the first accommodation, I have concerns about taking responsibility for student accommodation. The host is almost never present and leaves the responsibility to his 80 year old mum who is not mentally or physically able to cope. Location too far with 40 minutes walk (also bad bus connection), room good, meals sometimes there were none and otherwise always the same as pizzas and spaghetti. Breakfast not enough."

"Excellent for those who like to party, noisy during the day (roadworks) and very loud music in clubs. A variety of bars and restaurants, generally fairly expensive shopping. Small beach and nice places to have a drink or something to eat with a view of the sea. Cheap alcohol."

"Nice school, right in the Bay Street shopping centre. Bright classrooms, but also quite cold air-conditioning. It is a pity that there is no library, only a few desks. There were no PCs. The business course was good, but as always, it's up to you to catch up on what you've learned. It is certainly particularly effective to do this over 3 to 6 months. But 300 euros per week is a lot. Great excursions and a very friendly organisational team. Many thanks to Marie, Omar and the rest! It was a great time."

"I had already been to St.Julians six years ago with my oldest son and had really enjoyed Portomaso and the area around Spinola Bay. I knew about the nightlife and on purpose, having come this time with the whole family, I booked the hotel close to the school but a bit outside the nightlife. Since we had lessons between 11:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. I didn't have a chance to get around much"

"It's a place for party people. Too much for me. But great for making new friends. Cleanliness in Malta is a problem, although they clean some streets daily tourists throw cigarette butts everywhere and also other rubbish. The system of rubbish in plastic bags all over the streets is a stupid idea. Cats tear the bags, cockroaches crawl into them and the wind blows the rubbish around..."

"Unfortunately the classrooms are very small, mostly no daylight and the most important thing: our and some other groups were overcrowded: 16, 17 people instead of a maximum of 12. "First I was in a homestay. The room was with so much mould on the walls so I couldn´t stay there more than 2 days. The air in the room was really unhealthy. In addition, the family was not as kind as I had expected. I felt like a foreign in this house.
After 2 days I could move into a flat and it was much better. However, the lift didn't work for few days and it was mouldy, but only in the bathroom. A worker came to fix it one day."

"The staff are super warm, students can easily exchange pleasantries (practice speaking even more) with them, share their experiences easily. What I liked the most is that during a simple friends like conversation problems even with housing can get identified and resolved. Eg: during a casual conversation one student mentioned that she didn't like to take shower because the water was never warm. The ACE staff member explained that it was not okay, and that he would address the problem. Presumably the problem got resolved."

"Take the level test before you get to school, because otherwise in the school you will still have to take the same test. Don't cheat on the test, because if you do, and get into a class with much higher level than yours, you won't be able to handle the tempo.
If you disagree with the teacher on vocabulary usage or grammar, chances are that it's simply the British vs American English difference. Know how it's done both ways, and don't be rude to the teacher.
As any foreigner sometimes one may tolerate unpleasant/rude things thinking that it's some cultural aspect of the country and of the people that live in Malta (can be the other way round as well). In such situation I would recommend to speak up, and ask your teachers if it's an okay thing/behaviours or not.
Since it's never only about languages, it is also about culture exchange; thus, I'd recommend to make sure that you leave your comfort zone from time to time and hang out less with people from your own country (however, flagrant it may sound).
The school provides quite a bit of extracurricular activities, use them to meet new students. However, if you are in the range of B1-C1, better go and find activities outside the school, yoga, salsa, cooking classes. Bear in mind that the majority of the native population of Malta don't speak very good English, nor do other students in school, so find your own ways.
If you don't understand something, don't bow your head signalling that you understand it all, the phrase is "I don't understand".
Quit shortcuts, if the teacher corrected you, repeat the whole phrase, not just repeat one word.
If you find out that you will have to spend a lot of time to get to school (I met a person that wanted to save ~100 euros on his housing rent, but ended up spending 2-3 hours travelling by bus. Frankly, it was waste of his time and energy) ask for help with housing. Don't wait."

"The staff from the school were very great. They organised a lot of activities and I had a lot of fun with the people. So great people.
But the lesson was sometimes a little boring. The level of some people in the class was too low, so they didn't speak so much in conversation class. And sometimes the teacher spoke too much and the students did not have enough opportunity to speak."
